Hosting guests since 1914
The ZFV (formerly "Zürcher Frauenverein für alkoholfreie Wirtschaften") has been responsible for providing food service to the students, teaching staff and employees of the University of Zurich since 1914. This duty has evolved alongside University expansion and currently encompasses three cafeterias with on-site food preparation, seven cafeterias without food preparation facilities and the Restaurant uniTurm. After the new contract entered into effect, the price charged to students was reduced to CHF 5.40 in 2003. Thanks to funding earned through external catering events, this price has remained unchanged to date. ZFV has made a donation of CHF 50,000 to the tuition fund of the University of Zurich every year since 2002.
ZFV is a long-standing cooperative in the catering and hotel business with operations throughout all of Switzerland. It was founded in 1894 and is headquartered in Zurich. Not only does it run the Sorell Hotel chain but the company also operates its own gourmet, trendy and museum restaurants as well as school and university cafeterias. Kleiner Bäckerei-Konditorei, a Zurich-based bakery and pastry shop, belongs to ZFV as well. In addition to stadium and trade fair caterings, the ZFV catering teams also cater for various events.
